Welcome to Cheonan ! Introduction to Cheonan in South Korea

So... I'm a beginner like a baby.

I will introduce my neighborhood "Cheonoan, where I'm living now"

​

Of course... I know most foreign travelers want to visit Seoul.

I think Cheonan is a good choice too.

Location

Basically, Cheonan is located below Seoul. like this picture.

Hotel

We have a lot of nice hotels.

My recommandation is "Shilla Stay" It's three stars hotel ★★★

Address : 177 Dongseo-daero, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. "Shilla Stay"

Price : 1 Day / about $100

​

Shilla Stay has a good buffet restaurant. you can enjoy breakfast and lunch there.

of course you can have dinner too but at dinner time..

I think delivered food will be the best choice to enjoy night.

​

And the location of this hotel is really convenient to travel to Cheonan.

If you want others, you can find hotels on "야놀자" app

"야놀자" app provide booking hotels and discount promotion.

or "여기어때" is good too

Food

Yes, Foods are the most important I know.

There are so many franchise restaurants these days.

but I will tell you about Cheonan's specialties.

​

Walnut cookies [호두과자]

It's made by walnut and red bean.

The texture is very soft and sweet. you can chew walnuts when you eat this.

It's common snacks in korea. you can see this Walnut cookies in rest area on highway.

but the most famous store is located in Cheonan.

7 ea = 3,000won / $2.6

15 ea = 5,000won / $4.3

30 ea = 10,000won / $8.6

Next is...

Sundae [순대]

It is called korean blood sausage haha.... blood sausage.. It's weird.

Sundae is a food cooked by boiling or steamed with various ingredients in the intestines of cows and pigs.

it's very delicious. I can tell you.

we sometimes cook it with squid.

but Cheonan style is red color as follow picture.

​

and we usually make sundae into soup (gukbap 국밥).

​

The day after drinking a lot,

Sundae soup will be the best. I love it lol.

Traveling spot

There are tons of famous traveling spot in Cheonan.

Introduce my picks among I visited.

Yawoori [야우리]

This is downtown in cheonan.

Actually, Yawoori is the department store's name but we called entire down "Yawoori"

and this sotre have changed the name to Shinsegae.

but everyone called it Yawoori.

​

I recommend that you should go visit this place at night time.

So many pubs, restaurants, game room, singing room, busking, clubs etc.

and there are so many hotels and motels.

when you take a taxi, say "야우리로 가주세요" (please go to Yawoori)

If you can't communicate with a taxi driver, just loud Yawoori ! Yawoori !

Dujeong Food Alley [두정동 먹자골목]

It's similar to Yawoori, but it is a little small.

there are so many popular restaurants and young people.

especially at night time, It's crowded with young people.

Hot decorated women and handsome men hang around in front of bars and clubs.

Be careful not to get too drunk on the street.

When you take a taxi, say "두정동 먹자골목 가주세요" (Dujeong-dong Muck Ja Gol Mok)

Dankook University Lake Park [단대공원 or 천호지]

Address : 산34-2 Sinan-dong, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do

This lake park has many pretty cafes and 5 university nearby.

So there are always a lot of university students walking, riding a bike, exercising.

I like this place and spend time with my wife and dog here.

​

walking around all the park... I think It takes an hour.

but the view everywhere is cool.

​

After having lunch, go to this park to digest.

You can see pretty and cool young people. and you dogs.

Gakwonsa Temple [각원사]

This is last one I recommend today.

Gakwonsa has a huge statue of the Buddha. That's amazing.

If you walk around the huge Buddha statue three times, Your wish will come true.

​

This temple is almost at the top of the mountain.

So you should take a taxi or go there with some natives. like me ?

​

The space of the temple also huge, we can walking and spending time as take a photos.

​
